I [have] my dashboard empty [red: all test results processed]. everything validated and exported. works great [thumbs up x4, flexed biceps]
A more efficient and smarter way of quality testing
A series of tailor made applications to control testing machines linked to an online portal for validation of the results.

Main objectives
Reduce complexity
The vendor software that comes with our state of the art machines is very complex and not suitable for everyone in our workforce.Automation and integration
The amount of manual interference is far more than necessary.Time saving
Besides the previous point, the validation of the test results is also cumbersome and time consuming.
Project Statement
"We are testing over 30.000 samples this year. And that number will keep on growing. It's seasonal work, so we get help from a lot of temporary employees. Some of them are unschooled.
It needs to become much simpeler. If you ask me, it should be an app with 1 button."
Research: interviews and field studies

Defining the goals and pain points
Some call it Go Gemba, but I usually call it field study. It always feels like going out in the field and study.
Study behaviours and routines people have while performing the tasks they need to do is so insightful.
Combined with additional interviews to get more clarity on the reasons and motivations behind it provides a good starting point to begin the design process.

Design process

Visualising the primary process
Getting clear:
what the main parts of the process are
where responsibility lies
what the solution direction is for each part

Solution map
A visualisation of our solution: 1 integrated and scalable system
A series of tailor made desktop applications that function as a user friendly front end to control the test machines. The complex vendor software remained to function as a powerful backend.
The validation portal was live updated using smart automation scripts to support finding the outliers instantly.
